The new power supply unit range STEP POWER has been specially developed for use in installation distributors. Low idling losses and high degree of efficiency ensure maximum energy efficiency in this performance class up to 100 W.
A specially developed ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuit) that adapts the pulse duty frequency as well as the switching frequency to match the operating state makes this possible. Optimum values are achieved depending on the capacity of the power supply unit.
With 0.5 W, the losses are extremely low especially in the lower load range or during idling. The degree of efficiency which is a result of the quotient of the output effective power to the input effective power is anything up to 89% and thus considerably higher than comparable devices. Step Power power supply units thus convert less electrical energy into undesired heat energy. This not only saves energy but also extends the service life of components.Modules that are just 36, 54, 72 and 90 mm narrow correspond to the terminal pitches 2, 3, 4 and 5 TE and provide 24 V DC output voltage in the case of 0.75, 1.75, 2.5 or 4.2 A. Power supply units with 5, 12, 15 and 48 V DC are also available. From the 1.75 A variant, the nominal output voltages can be set finely via the front-side potentiometer in order to balance the voltage drops.
The setting range of the 24 V power supply units ranges from 22.5 to 29.5 V DC and that of 12 V devices from 10 to 16.5 V DC. The modules work as per the UI characteristic curve and have the advantage that the power supply is not switched off in the case of short circuit or overload but continues to provide the maximum possible output current. Capacitive loads as well as loads with DC/DC converters in the input circuit are thus supplied reliably.
