Altistart 46 Soft Start Enters SNA Market Square D proudly announces the launch and availability of the next generation of soft start motor
controllers the Altistart 46 (ATS46) which is being marketed under the Telemecanique label. Building upon the motor protection strengths and the ease-of-use of the Altistart 23 (ATS23
), the ATS46is the first and the only soft start to utilize ramping based on the motor torque rather than voltage or current. Accordingly, the reduction of current and torque during
starting reduces temperature rise during acceleration, prevents damage to materials in process, prolongs the life of machines, and reduces down time.
Complementing its unprecedented ability to control starting torque, the ATS46 soft start also offers the following product specific benefits:
True soft starting constant
acceleration without tachometer feedback or sensor Elimination of torque surges on starting State-of-the-art protection of the starter, motor, and machine A choice of three stopping modes:
freewheel, deceleration ramp, or braking. In addition, the ATS46 soft start is available in 21 power ratings from 17 to 1200 Amps each of which may be configured for 208, 230,
380, or 460 volts at 50 or 60 Hz. Class 10 solid state motor overload and phase loss protection are standard. Class 20 or 30 overload, underload, stall, jam, and phase-reversal
protection may also be activated. Reflective of its ease of use, the ATS46 soft start features factory settings which allow it to be used in a majority of applications
without adjustment. Of course, should customized settings be either necessary or preferred, a digital keypad is provided for accurate and repeatable setup.
