XY2-CE and XY2-CH cable pull switches provide for an emergency stop to be signaled at any point along a cable up to 165 feet in length. Typical applications include conveyor systems, packaging, textiles, transfer machines, presses, woodworking equipment and paint lines.
Operation is based on the taut cable principle. Cable must be tight and have appropriate tension applied to set or reset the switch. Once cable tension has been set, the device will open the N.C. positive opening contacts if either the cable is pulled or if it should become slack due to stretching or breakage. Normal stop versions are used where a momentary, non-emergency signal is required at any point along a cable.
Cable pull switches are frequently used in place of individual emergency stop push buttons around a machine or conveyor. The cost of the cable pull switch and installation is usually less than the cost of installing individual emergency stop stations required to meet codes and standards. As more individual emergency stop push buttons are required, using a cable pull device becomes more atractive and cost-effective. An added benefit is that the cable pull switch is available continuously along the cable run and is easy for personnel to pull and operate.
