The Altivar 28 Combines High Performance, Quality and Reliability

The Altivar 28 Series is the next generation of AC Drives from Square D.  Adjustable frequency Altivar 28 AC drive controllers are used for controlling three-phase asynchronous motors. They range from:

• 0.5 to 3 hp, 208/230V, Single Phase In / Three Phase Out
• 5 to 10 hp, 208/230V, Three Phase In / Out
• 1 to 20 hp, 400/460V, Three Phase In / Out

You will never have to sacrifice features for size, the Altivar 28 is smaller and more compact than the Altivar 18 of equal rating. Also to simplify installation and set-up the Altivar 28 has equivalent programming parameters, power terminals and comparable control terminals to the Altivar 18.  In addition, this drive was developed to conform to all national and international standards for industrial control devices.

Another feature of the Altivar 28 is the standard built in RS485 MODBUS serial link.  Right out of the box,  the Altivar 28 has the option to connect to a number of  communication network protocols, including Modbus Plus, Ethernet and Devicenet.

To adapt to your specific application requirements, the Altivar 28 has many new features. The PI control has been improved and is now reverse acting.  It has a higher switching frequency with a selectable range from 2 to 15 kHz.  The Altivar 28 now includes one analog output, available as 0-20 mA or 4-20 mA.

The Altivar 28 was designed to meet the requirements of a wide variety of applications. They include:
